The new river cruiser is the 15th vessel in the Amadeus class from Austrian shipping company Lüftner Cruises. Corina Lüftner, daughter of owner Wolfgang Lüftner, christened the 135-metre vessel which can transport 162 passengers in five-star comfort. The new member of the Lüftner will offer high-quality cruises on the Dutch inland waters in the spring and on the Danube to and from Passau later in the season. Built at shipyard De Hoop in Lobith, Amadeus Queen will also be used on the Amsterdam-Budapest route. Indoor pool The latest version of the Amadeus Silver ships has an upgraded design, interior and functionality compared to her predecessors, while the layout of the public spaces and cabins has been maintained. A new addition is the indoor pool, covered by a glass roof that can be opened when the weather permits. In the evenings, this space can be used for lectures, films and other social events. Moreover, the reception features a wealth of glass to enhance the sense of spaciousness when stepping on board. Further expansion The ship’s predecessor, Amadeus Provence, was taken into use in the spring of 2017 and is currently sailing the South of France. The launch of the 16th Amadeus is scheduled for April 2019: Amadeus Star will have her maiden voyage on the Dutch and Belgian inland waters and then be used on routes between Amsterdam and Basel and for cruises as far as the Black Sea and the Danube delta.
