Now that the river cruise ships more frequently visit Haarlem, it has become obvious that the transit point for busses was in need of an improvement. Especially the accessibility for high coaches and the recognizability of the embarking and disembarking areas for the drivers were disappointing. The accessibility has been improved by trimming the trees, that where located along the road. The gardeners have removed or trimmed the branches of the trees to the ideal height. In this case high enough for the coaches to pass. Further one row of trees has been relocated to Businesspark the Waarderpolder, they made the area nice and green. Close to the embarking point the trees where located to close to the couches. The coaches can now easily use the road, and the trees were preserved. Recognizability A new traffic sign has been put up too identify the driveway. There is room for four coaches at a time. The coaches are not to use the area for parking it is only for embarking and disembarking passengers, at walking distance to the ship. Charm “It is mostly the historical town centre and the cultural diversity, that brings the river cruise passengers to Haarlem. During April and May the visit to Haarlem is usually combined with a visit to the Keukenhof” is what Caroline Verkley of Haarlem Marketing said. More information about Haarlem: https://bit.ly/2xGPJ5O
