Since the end of last year the new road between Hoorn and Enkhuizen is ready. This has considerably reduced travel time to and from Enkhuizen. E.g. It now only takes a mere 50 minutes to drive from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Enkhuizen. Thus Enkhuizen has become an attractive location for turn arounds for river cruise ships. Enkhuizen has a lot to offer river cruise companies and their passengers. In Enkhuizen you do not need to pay sky high tourist taxes.Taxis and coaches can park next to the landing stage in the port. Therefor passengers or staff do not need to walk very far with their luggage. The port of Enkhuizen is situated adjacent to the train station and historical centre of town. Passengers with a late departure or early arrival can easily walk into the centre from the ship. Enkhuizen has several nice places of interest like the old defence tower Dromedary, the South or Saint Pancras church and the idyllic Snouck van Loosen Park. At walking distance there are two museums. The ship bottle museum in Enkhuizen possesses the largest collection of ship bottles and at Sow To Grow you will become acquainted with the world of seeds from plants and vegetables. The Zuiderzee Museum offers a free ferry service to its outdoor museum from April till late October. In the Zuiderzee Museum your passengers will see, hear, smell and taste life around the former Zuiderzee. In just one morning or afternoon they can travel from Enkhuizen over the enclosing dike to Urk and via Volendam on to the isle of Marken of 1900. Last, but not least one can also just sit down on one of the many great terraces in town or go shopping at main street.
