The cruise terminals in Amsterdam/IJmuiden are very easy to get to. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is only a 30 minutes drive away.

Just outside Amsterdam - but always less than an hour away by comfortable coach - you can find various attractions that make a visit so memorable. In the springtime tulip fields are laid out in brightly colored patterns, and in the spring and the late summer you can visit Keukenhof, the world's largest flower display. You can get a fascinating picture of Old Holland all year round in Zaanse Schans, with its 17-th century windmills and the characteristic style of old-green-and-white painted wooden houses. In a working windmill you can still take a look at the skills of a clog-maker, or visit a cheese dairy.

A short distance away are the scenic fishing harbors of Volendam and Marken where people often go about in traditional dress, and where you can sample the Dutch delicacy of (raw) herring. Every Friday morning between April and September at the Alkmaar cheese market, traditionally-dressed bearers fetch and carry thousands of golden yellow cheeses.
